What do chiropractors do?
Curious as to how it really works?
So what does a chiropractor actually do?
A chiropractor uses hands on manipulative treatment of misalignment of the joints particularly the spine. Chiropractic care can help those hoping for relief from back, neck, legs, and arm pain. It could even help with headaches.
The goal is to use spinal manipulations and other treatments such as hot/cold therapies to help the body heal and avoid surgery or medication. The manipulation is used to restore joint mobility and spinal alignment. Spinal misalignment and joint pain can be cause by a traumatic event such as a car accident or falling or something as simple as improper posture.
What happens when you first meet with a chiropractor?
When you first meet with a chiropractor, they will ask you questions about your pain, where it’s located, and possible causes. The chiropractor will also do a physical exam, checking for range of motion of the area affected and what positions or moves exacerbate your pain. This is to help determine your treatment plan and if any other diagnostic imaging like an MRI is needed.
After the chiropractor is finished with the initial exam, they will come up with a treatment plan. This plan could involve joint manipulation, hot/cold therapies, nutritional advice, stretching and exercises that help the affected areas.
What parts of the body does chiropractic care help with?
Chiropractic care does not only help with the spine and back. It also can help with headaches and migraines that are caused by tension in the neck and upper back. Misalignment in the back can also cause issues in the knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. By realigning the spine with chiropractic adjustments the pain in your joints could be reduced. Your digestive tract can even be affected! Slow digestion can be a sign that something is misaligned in your spine.
